Why I Started Writing:

I come from a long line of storytellers. While I love speaking to audiences around the world with honesty, humor, and heart, I’ve always found that writing allows me to express the deepest parts of my story most clearly.

Over twenty-five years ago, God called me into pro-life ministry through the words of Proverbs 24:11–12. In that moment, I knew He was asking me to use the power of testimony—just as Revelation 12:11 speaks of—to reach those who have been wounded by abortion. My mission became clear: to shed light on the trauma, regret, and destructive patterns that often follow abortion, and to share how God’s redemptive love brings healing to women, men, and families affected by it.

Through years of ministry, personal trials, and spiritual growth, I’ve witnessed God’s grace again and again. He eventually led me to put these experiences into writing—to share about abortion trauma, God’s desire to save, deliver, and heal the abortion-wounded, and His power to use what was meant for evil for good.

Authors Who Have Influenced Me:

Many Christian authors have shaped my faith and spiritual walk, but I can’t say they directly influenced my writing skills—mainly because I didn’t realize I had a gift for writing until much later in life. That realization came in an unexpected place: an upper-level Spanish writing course I took in college while finishing my degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish—in my early forties.

As part of the class, I had to write stories. To my surprise, they came easily. These were deeply personal reflections that flowed straight from the heart. While my grammar wasn’t perfect, my professors consistently praised the depth and authenticity of my content. I often earned high marks not for technical skill, but for the emotional weight and meaning in my words.

On the last day of class as I was leaving the language arts building, something unforgettable happened. My professor—who also happened to be my pastor—ran after me with a paper in hand, calling my name with an excitement I wasn’t expecting. I turned to see his face lit up with a rare, beaming smile. Handing me back my final paper, he said, “You have a gift for writing, Molly.” I looked down and saw a bold red “A” scrawled across the top.

Those simple words of affirmation—spoken by someone I deeply respected—planted something in my heart. Years later, when God called me to write my book, that moment came rushing back. It was as if the encouragement I received that day was “re-birthed” with purpose. I knew then that writing would be part of my calling.

Books I Have Written:

My book, Deceived: God Brought Purpose From My Pain, was released in October 2020. It is an autobiographical account of the deep pain, trauma, and regret I experienced following what is called a “safe and legal” abortion. I wrote this book to share my story—one that reflects the experience of millions of women—to educate others, minister to the brokenhearted, and inspire action in the fight for life.

In addition to my book, one of my children’s rhymes, “The Eyes Have It,” was published in Clubhouse Jr. Magazine in January 2014. My abortion testimony has been featured in several books, including Their Gift of Life: Life After an Abortion – Testimonies from Around the World, edited by Sheryl van der Ende, and Echoes of Mercy (Classeminars, Inc., 2013). I’ve also written a number of personal essays and submitted them to various writing contests as part of my ongoing passion to use storytelling as a voice for truth and healing.

What I'm Working On Now:

My second book is a front-row seat to the amazing journey God has taken me on through my pro-life activism—opening doors I never dreamed of and certainly never felt equipped to walk through. But God delights in using ordinary people for extraordinary Kingdom work! This book is my way of giving Him all the glory and inviting you to say “yes” to His call on your life. I want to encourage you to step out in bold faith, surrender everything, and walk through the doors He opens—even if your heart is pounding. Because here’s the truth: serving the Most High is the adventure of a lifetime! It’s wild. It’s beautiful. It’s humbling. And it comes with earthly and eternal rewards that far outweigh anything we leave behind.
