Why I Started Writing:
I call myself a reluctant writer. I love helping hurting hearts heal from relationship wounds by sharing the power of God’s Word and my professional experience as a marriage and family therapist. Speaking at churches, retreats, or conferences makes my heart sing. One day, I felt Holy Spirit’s prompting to attend She Speaks, a speaker/writer conference. During the registration process, I declined meeting with a publisher. No book, no need. But God disagreed. He informed me I do have a book. He said write about surviving childhood sexual abuse from a biblical, therapeutic, and personal perspective. Whew! Clear and specific. No way could I tell God no. I started writing because God said so. What a journey.
Authors Who Have Influenced Me:
My favorite nonfiction authors are Priscilla Shirer, Beth Moore, Lysa Terkheurst, Pam Farrel and Christine Caine. But I inhale books by Dee Henderson, Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, Irene Hannon, DiAnn Mills, and Terri Blackstock.
Books I Have Written:
The Tapestry of Trauma: Transforming the Tangles of Childhood Sexual Abuse into God’s Masterpiece, is my first book. I share my testimony of how God transformed the pain of childhood sexual abuse to the beauty of being chosen as God’s daughter to be His masterpiece. I studied the powerful story of the woman with the issue of blood who was healed after suffering for twelve years. Although she was not a survivor of child abuse, she suffered physically and emotionally. Intrigued because the hurting woman never gave up hope I wanted to follow her example. In doing so, I discovered five traits, practical applications, and the essentials to transforming my life from victim to victorious. God did it for me and I know He will do the same for my sister survivors. Additionally, I draw on my expertise as a licensed marriage and family therapist, trained to treat trauma. Tapestry is written to help hurting hearts heal.
What I'm Working On Now:
The Tapestry of Trauma is my debut book. Currently, I am completing the final draft before handing over the manuscript to my Elk Lake editor.
