Why I Started Writing:
In 2018, I lost my mother to brain cancer. Writing became an outlet that helped me channel my grief and served as a source of healing. I also recognized that much of my writing centered around my faith. So, in 2019, I began contributing to a faith-based website called www.Catholicmom.com and after having my first few articles published, I received a call from a Catholic radio station to be interviewed about my work. It was here that I recognized my words might be useful to others and began to explore other avenues of writing.
Authors Who Have Influenced Me:
There are so many authors who have influenced me in various ways, each unique in writing style. Therefore, I have broken down my list into both fiction and nonfiction authors who have been a source of inspiration.
NonFiction Authors & Books: St. Paul and all his books of the Bible from the Early Church, C.S. Lewis, Sonja Corbitt (also known as the Bible Study Evangelista), Jeff Cavins, Mark Hart, Danielle Bean, Max Lucado, Lee Strobel, Angie Smith, Christine Watkins, Luisa Piccarreta, and St. Faustina Kowalska,
Fiction Authors & Books: C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series, Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein, multiple titles from Jane Austen, Ernest Hemingway, and Phillipa Gregory, who inspired me to love history with a fictional undertone. Irene Hannon has become a more recent favorite, intertwining faith with everyday stories. I have also been influenced by Francine Rivers, Jaqueline Brown, and her series called, The Light.
Books I Have Written:
Grieving Daughters' Club is my debut novel. This will be the first of a three-part series. When I began writing I wanted to share my experience with grief without sounding preachy. I believe fictional stories are the best format, modeling how Jesus told parables to teach to his followers. Grieving Daughters’ Club has many life lessons without feeling forced. It helps us look at each person’s life experiences and loss in our own unique way. Yet, there is still love and support we can give to each other.
What I'm Working On Now:
Currently, I am working on two different yet unique book projects. The first, See You in the Mourning, is the second book in the Grieving Daughters’ Club’s three-part series. The second project is a Bible study centered around 1 Corinthians 13:1-13. In addition, I continue to write for websites such as www.queenofpeacemedia and www.herlifemagazine.com.
