Why I Started Writing:
I dreamed of becoming an author before I could even spell my name with a crayon; writing is a fundamental part of who I am. To be a writer has been the constant pursuit of my life, and I hope to use my God-given abilities to be an arrow pointing people to Him.
Authors Who Have Influenced Me:
My introduction to adult literature in the summer after the fifth grade was Michael Crichton, who became an early favorite. Crichton was the master of fusing technical and popular writing together. Now, I look to the examples of C.S. Lewis, Bo Giertz, and Joel C. Rosenberg as writers who have been critically and commercially successful in both Christian fiction and Christian nonfiction.
Books I Have Written:
My first published book is the novel Kings of the Promised Land, which I call faith-based historical fiction but is more accurately categorized as Biblical fiction. After I became a Christian at age nineteen, I found the events in 1 and 2 Samuel to be riveting and page-turning. I wanted others to feel the same excitement I felt in reading those Biblical narratives, and knew I had found the story I wanted to dedicate myself to telling.
What I'm Working on Now:
I do have the sequel to Kings of the Promised Land in my brain, which I have always looked forward to writing even more than the first book. However, I will be taking a break from fiction to focus on a nonfiction project near and dear to my heart‑-perhaps the most important thing I will ever write.
