Why I Started Writing:
I’ve always been a creative person and studied interior design in college. But, design wasn’t my passion. I enjoyed writing papers in high school and college. The research, details, outlines, and the compilation of all my notes into a written work made sense to me. I’m an avid reader and love nothing better than to curl up with a book on a rainy day or lazy Saturday. The more I read, the more I thought I can write a book. Boy, did I have a lot to learn. In the beginning of my writing journey, I thought my calling was in the romance genre, but God had another plan. I’m so thankful for writing conferences where writers and authors share their knowledge with each other because God led me down the path of speculative fiction where I write from points of view other than human.
Authors Who Have Influenced Me:
I’m an eclectic reader, so I’m a fan of whoever I’m reading at the moment—Jerry Jenkins, Sandra Brown, David Baldacci, John Grisham, Karen Kingsbury, Virginia Smith, Billy Graham, Lois T. Henderson, and Louise Maxwell Baker (sometimes Baker’s words just make me chuckle out loud).
Books I Have Written:
My debut novel, If A Church Pew Could Talk, is fiction and written from Everett’s (a church pew) point of view. Everett has resided in the same church for over 150 years and soon, he and the other pews will be ousted and replaced with chairs. Everett takes a trip down memory lane with stories from his creation in 1854 until present time and the characters he has observed in the church. Through his stories, Everett shares the good news of Jesus Christ and the transformation only He can make in a person’s life.
What I'm Working On Now:
In my beach town, we have a feral cat population that is cared for by a wonderful group of volunteers. I’m writing my next manuscript, If A Feral Cat Had Nine Lives (working title), where Stevie (a feral cat and the main character) lives among humans and must grow in understanding of self-sacrifice in the nine lives God gives him. I’m also working on a collection of short, detective stories based on the Ten Commandments, and I submit devotions to various websites.
