Why I Started Writing:

I don’t remember a time in my life that I wasn’t creating stories. Even as a little girl, I’d create additional episodes of my favorite tv programs, such as Zorro, Twilight Zone, and Star Trek. Well, I guess those tv shows date me!

Then, in grade school, I discovered poetry. Oh, how I loved to read and memorize poems by Carl Sandburg, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and others. I was blessed to have parents who were English majors in college, and they made sure that everything I wrote was grammatically correct and well written. My English teachers in high school were wonderful, and they encouraged me to write, write, write. Since childhood, many of my own stories stayed inside my head because I didn’t feel they were ready for public eyes. But while inside my head, those stories kept developing and improving over the years until I finally I put them to paper. I only wish I had time to write out all the stories still waiting in my brain, but even if I could, more would keep arriving to take their places!

Authors Who Have Influenced Me:

As a child, I loved Jack London’s books, for adventure, and JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, and Roald Dahlfor fantasy. Mark Twain delighted me. I also loved to read biographies and histories. When I loved a book, I’d read it over and over, and I think this kind of repetition helped me learn the rhythm and flow of sentences, and the power of words to create imagery and emotion. Nowadays, I read a lot of non-fiction, and I study Dean Koontz and Stephen King because they’re both masters of deep point of view and creating and sustaining unending suspense.

Books I Have Written:

My shorter articles and stories can be found in anthologies published by Chicken Soup for the Soul, Adams Media, Baker Publishing, Guideposts and others.

My full-length novels are: High Country Dilemma (a romance); and a suspense trilogy: Haven’s Flight; Haven’s Hope; and Haven’s Fire

What I'm Working On Now:

One of my publishers has commissioned me to write a novella to be included in a suspense novella series.

And I’m in the beginning stages of plotting out a sequel to my thrillerThe Girl Everyone Wants.
