Why I Started Writing:

Listening to stories and reading has been something I have enjoyed since childhood. I remember in third grade, our teacher always read a chapter of a book for us after lunch. I especially liked The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and was always disappointed when the story time ended.

In my adult years, after finishing a book one evening by a favorite author, I thought, “I can do this. I can write a book.” Little did I know how challenging the task would be. But it put a seed in my heart and got me started. I began with short stories and progressed from there. When I retired from a caseworker position with the City of Toronto in October, 2019, I went back to manuscripts I had not touched in many years and began to work on getting the first one published.

The most important reason why I write is to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. The written word is such a powerful tool and can reach thousands of people. It is my hope and prayer that through the journeys of the characters in my books, readers will be encouraged to consider seriously the life-changing news of salvation found in Jesus.

Authors Who Have Influenced Me:

God’s Word, authored by his precious Holy Spirit, has influenced me the most. As a child, my mother had a weekly Bible Club where neighborhood children came to sing songs, listen to and see a Bible flannel-graph lesson and, of course, take home a treat, like my mom’s delicious peanut butter cookies. I loved all the Bible stories—Daniel in the lion’s den, the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, David and Goliath, Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, Jonah and the whale. I began reading the Bible for myself early in my life and accepted Jesus as my Savior as a small child. God, his Word, and the salvation he provided through his Son, Jesus, mean everything to me. “My son, give attention to my words … Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.” (Proverbs 4:20-22, NKJV). Jesus is my life because Jesus is the Word of God.

Lee Strobel’s book, The Case for Christ, is a great book to give to atheist friends. For leisure reading, I enjoy Terri Blackstock’s books.

Books I Have Written:

Seventy Times Seven is my debut Christian romance novel, released by Friesen Press in March, 2021. Hope Doesn’t Disappoint is my second Christian romance and is the first book of a three-book series, “The Victory Series.”

What I'm Working On Now:

The initial drafts of the remaining two books in “The Victory Series,” Abundance of Grace and Caused to Triumph are completed and currently in the editing stage.
