Why I Started Writing:
I have always loved to read, but I never thought about being a writer until I became a teacher. Every afternoon, I would read to my fourth-grade class. We read so many wonderful chapter books, and one day I said to myself, I think I could do this. I started keeping a notebook of ideas and drafts, which fell to the wayside as the adventure of raising four boys took over. When things slowed down a bit, I dug out my old notebook, dusted it off, and realized I was still inspired to write.
Authors Who Have Influenced Me:
Catherine Marshall, without a doubt. After I read Christy in sixth grade, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I still reread it every few years, and the story touches me differently every time. Now, as a high school librarian, whenever a student asks me, “What should I read?” Christy is my first suggestion.
Books I Have Written:
My debut book is a middle grade mystery, set against the backdrop of friendship and faith. Secrets in September (working title) will be published in spring of 2021.
What I'm Working On Now:
I would like Secrets in September to be part of a trilogy, so I’m presently working on those stories. I also have some picture books up my sleeve!
