Kristin Lehr
Why I Started Writing:
Dr. Kristin Lehr is a former Elementary School teacher turned Director of Children’s Ministry. She has served on staff at Zionsville Presbyterian Church in Zionsville, Indiana for over a decade. She has an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, Master’s degree in Effective Teaching and Special Education, and a PhD in Christian Communication and Leadership. Kristin is a wife to her dashing husband, Chip, and mom to three sons (ALL teenagers … pray for her)! Guilty pleasures include watching Reality TV, a handbag obsession and love of shoes … all shoes … So. Many. Shoes.
Kristin started writing while pursuing a reading endorsement in college at Ball State University. She was encouraged to write a children’s book for a class project. She thought her story was awesome! Discovering the abandoned manuscript in some old boxes twenty-plus years later, she realized that the tale wasn’t awesome, but a hot mess! However, she had learned a lot along the way about children, teaching, and loving the Lord. Kristin turned that manuscript inside and out, rewrote it and that became her first book, The Squirrel Family Acorn.
Authors Who Have Influenced Me:
Always having a deep love of reading, Kristin has been influenced by so many authors. Her favorite children’s author is Robert Munsch and his book, The Paperbag Princess. Adult authors include Sue Grafton, Billie Letts, Robert B. Parker and many more as reading in a serious pastime for Kristin. She is always looking to discover new authors.
