Why I Started Writing:

When I was about 10 years old, I went to visit my uncle’s thrift store in a small town in Oklahoma. I was bored while the grown-ups were talking, so I started wandering around until I found a box of beat-up comic books. I pulled out a Captain America comic, written by Stan Lee, and started reading. I loved it. When I turned the last page on the first story, I thought, “This is what I want to do. I want to write stories that make other people feel as good as I feel right now.” And that’s why I became a writer!

Stan Lee (obviously). Aldous Huxley. Shel Silverstein. Ellen Raskin. Salman Rushdie. Greg Rucka.

I’ve published 70+ books—too many to list here. But if you Google my name or look me up on Amazon you’ll get a good idea of the kinds of things I’ve written (fiction, nonfiction, kids’ books, theology, even greeting cards, and more).

What I'm Working On Now:

A storybook of Fables and Folktales from around the world. (We’ll see if I ever finish it though—I’ve been “working on it” for years!)
