Why I Started Writing:

As an ordained Episcopal minister and rector of a large church for thirty-five years, I wrote monthly newsletters—which were eventually bound in a book for my 25th anniversary to the priesthood. The writing bug bit hard, and upon retirement as a farewell gift to the parish, I self-published the book May You Live in ChristShortly thereafter, while teaching at the large Christ Church Methodist in Louisville, I met book coach Cathy Fyock and publicist Stephanie Feger, who guided me through building a social media platform and release of The Door to RenewalI believe the Word is flesh, but books can let the Word speak.

Authors Who Have Influenced Me:

Reading is almost like breathing. As a clergyman, reading is a must.  Four authors who carried me through four decades of ministry:

(1980) Henri Nouwen’s, Reaching Out was a first impression that lasted due to his blend of psychology and spirituality.

(1990) I was leading a major expansion of our church facilities and over my head until meeting Ken Callahan and 12 Keys to an Effective Church.

(2000) N.T. Wright, Jesus and the Victory of God, was instrumental in helping me lay a solid theological biblical foundation.

(2010) They say “when the student is ready, the teacher will be there” and that was certainly the case with Dallas Willard and The Divine Conspiracy.

Books I Have Written:

  • May You Live in Christ: Spiritual Growth Through the Vision of St. Peter
  • The Door to Renewal: Spiritual Growth Through the Mind of St. Paul
  • A Letter to the Church and the Next Generation: Spiritual Growth Through the Witness of James.

What I'm Working On Now:

am a member of the National Speakers Association, Kentucky. My books and platform have provided me with regional church speaking opportunities, conferences, and workshopsI will participate in a national conference on “Mentoring Matters” which is designed to help graduates from college transition into adulthood.
