I Know What Grandma Does While I’m Napping will amuse children and grandmas as they enjoy the imagination of a preschool girl at naptime. Silly pictures, easy rhymes, and Seussical onomatopoeia bring the story to life. Today’s grandmother is not the gray-haired, rolled stockings, muumuu-wearing grandma of old. Tracy would be the first to tell you that she never expected her life to turn out the way it did.

Tracy was the first person in the State of Illinois to be arrested, convicted, and sent to prison for the knowing attempt to transmit the AIDS virus. How could this happen? Tracy grew up in a middle-income home in Rockford, Illinois. But Tracy made choices early in her life that would have a direct effect on her life in the future. She began to use alcohol very early. In high school, she listened to peer pressure as friends introduced her to drugs. At seventeen, she quit school and took to life on the street as a prostitute in order to earn money for her growing drug habit.

Tracy was arrested by Lt. Jim Mays in a prostitution sting operation. Lt. Mays was instrumental in Tracy’s decision to put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ. As a result, her life completely changed. However, the years of substance abuse and the complications from HIV infection were taking their toll. The Governor of Illinois later granted Tracy a full pardon so that she could come home to die. But she didn’t die, and Tracy used her last months to reach out to young people. This is a documentation of her efforts. Tracy’s Choices illustrates the point that there may be many forces at work trying to get a young person off track, but in the end, You are Responsible for You.

The Canary Cage is more than a saloon …

It’s a place of intrigue, lost love, and regret. As Lily soon discovers, once you enter its doors, you may lose more than your reputation.

It’s 1899 and socialite Melissa Forrester has traveled from her home in Norfolk, Virginia, to Guthrie, Oklahoma. She’s there to visit her sister’s grave and learn why Augusta shot herself. Now alone in the world, Melissa is angry at God and at Tyler Buchanan, the man she holds responsible for her sister’s death.

Impulsively accepting employment at the Canary Cage, the saloon where her runaway sister had worked as a singer named “Roxie,” Melissa adopts an assumed name herself, and, for a time, lives a saloon girl’s life as “Lily.” She’s determined to seek out Buchanan, the man Roxie claimed to have loved. Lily’s bitterness burns, and she fully intends to make him pay for rejecting her sister.

Buchanan, Guthrie’s most successful newspaper publisher, turns out to be a tougher adversary than Lily expected. Tyler has his own demons to wrestle. Years earlier, he had fled Charleston, South Carolina, leaving scandal behind, and started a new life in Guthrie. When Lily arrives, he’s irresistibly drawn to her, and a familiar battle between head and heart resurrects. The more he tries to avoid her, the more she seems to be everywhere. With an aggressive, marriage-minded debutante added to the mix, Tyler has his hands full.

Lily grows closer to those who inhabit the Canary Cage and finds she has more in common with their dreams, struggles, and heartaches than she could have imagined. Experiencing intolerance firsthand, she begins to see herself and those around her in a different light.

She discovers more about the circumstances surrounding her sister’s suicide and Tyler’s shadowy past and wonders—could there be another, darker explanation for Augusta’s death? Perhaps there are even more important questions. Will the price Lily has to pay for her subterfuge be too high? If she continues to harden her heart, harboring unforgiveness and resentment, will she lose her true self and become someone she doesn’t want to be? Will her willfulness rob her of the friendships and the love she’s finally found in Guthrie? Will she, like other seemingly lost souls, be unable to escape the Canary Cage?

Two terrible illness. Two breathtaking miracles

Marolyn Ford experienced instantaneous and miraculous healings as a result of prayer, not once, but twice in her life. Hers is one of the most incredible and inspiring stories you will ever read—both miracles are well-documented and are staggering examples of God’s supernatural power. Making Marolyn’s story even more compelling is that each of her hopeless diagnoses came from the highly esteemed Mayo Clinic. Then, after both healings, the doctors were dumbfounded, concluding the only explanations were that a miracle had occurred.

After she suddenly lost her eyesight at age eighteen, the Clinic pronounced, “You’re blind, Marolyn. There’s nothing we can do. No surgery, medication, nor glasses will help. Eventually you will lose all your eyesight. Go home and learn how to live with it.”

A dreadful fall in the bathtub years later left Marolyn with internal damage that led to a total paralysis of her digestive system. For twelve long years, she was unable to eat or drink except via an IV. Once again, the Clinic gave the grim prognosis. “There is nothing we can do. Your life will be short-lived. Go home and get your house in order.”

Everything was in order. Funeral arrangements had been made. Unless a miracle occurred, she would not live until morning.

But God had different ideas. Marolyn moved from tragedy to triumph twice!
